My first album, Don of a New Dawn, is inspired by my many love experiences of all sorts. The agonizing love, treacherous love, nurturing love, the imaginary love and confident self love. The title of the album Don of a New Dawn reflects the maturity level at which the stories are told. The honorific lord of love not existing before because there aren't many openly masculine women loving women presently telling these stories using music. The "new dawn" is the fresh light before the sunrise and the moments before truly understanding what love means.

My name is Takeya Trayer, musician name Taki Mam. I create music of various genres but the majority of my music is hip hop which is influence by folk, country, electronica, indie and literature.
I've performed a few times in Philadelphia, at the Philly Dyke March (2009, the Art Sanctuary (2010) and at my solo visual art exhibit (2013). Ideally, instead of performing I aim to make music for animation and film. I am simultaneously linking up my music to my visual art as I continue to develop an animation series also titled Taki Mam.

The "new dawn" is the fresh light before the sunrise and the moments before truly understanding what love means. This album is mostly hip hop but I am working in many different genres of music with the ultimate goal of using my music as a soundtrack for my visual art as well as any soundtrack work in general. This is just a demo because I do not own the rights to all the beats.
I adore music. Its a powerful tool that has numerous effects on a persons psyche. Melodies get stuck in your head, words are fun to play with, instruments take you to a space and time like taking a trip on a memory, and all combined soundtrack can be a great visual enhancer.
